No stories are triggering

Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services, make sure Location Services is on, scroll to Travelling in Time, and set it to While Using the App. Then restart the app.

The compass is wrong

Hold the phone flat and slowly draw a figure-8 in the air for ~5 seconds to recalibrate the magnetometer. If accuracy stays above ±30°, move away from large metal objects (car dashboards, speakers).

No sound or narration

Check that your device isn't on silent and the Media volume is turned up. If you're using a Bluetooth speaker or headphones, make sure they're selected as the audio output, then reopen the app.

App crashes on launch

Force-quit the app (swipe up from the bottom and flick it away), then reopen. If that doesn't work, try a device restart. Still stuck? Email us with your iPhone model and iOS version.

Badges not appearing

Achievements and leaderboard positions sync via Game Center. Check you're signed in under Settings → Game Center. In-app progress (coins, quizzes) is stored locally on the device and won't transfer if you switch to a new phone.

Refunds

Your app purchase is handled by Apple. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID. There are no subscriptions or in-app purchases — the app is a one-time purchase.

Frequently asked questions

Which devices are supported? expand_more

Travelling in Time runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later. On-device AI features (quiz generation, fresh narration) require iPhone 15 Pro or newer — other features work on any supported device.

Does it work outside the UK? expand_more

The initial content library is UK-focused (400,000+ locations). You can still open the app abroad for "Did You Know?" quizzes and Free Roam on the 3D map, but location-triggered stories are currently UK-only. More regions are on the roadmap.

How much mobile data does it use? expand_more

Roughly 15–30 MB per hour of typical use, similar to a podcast plus a navigation app. You can reduce data use with "Lite imagery" in Settings.

Can multiple kids share one purchase? expand_more

Yes — the app works with Apple Family Sharing. Buy it once, and up to six family members can install it on their own devices at no extra cost. There are no subscriptions or in-app purchases to manage.

How do I delete my data? expand_more

Because we don't hold a personal profile, the cleanest route is: delete the app from your device, and ask iCloud to remove any app-associated data. You can also email privacy [at] travellingintime [dot] com with any specific request.
